NDE Tests to Assure Product Quality
To
test the quality of the metals used in our products
and the quality of our finished products, BVI can
meet all nondestructive examinations (NDE) needs.
Liquid Penetrant (LP) Test:
A specially formulated liquid (penetrant) is applied
to the surface of the material where it will seep
into any open infraction or flaw.
The
LP method is independent of the type and composition
of the metal alloy so it can be used for the
examination of stainless steels and nonferrous
alloys where the magnetic particle test is not
applicable.
Magnetic Particle (MP) Test:
a magnetic field is applied to whole part to check
for infractions. This method depends on the fact
that discontinuities in or near the surface perturb
magnetic flux lines induced into a ferromagnetic
material. The ferromagnetic material requirement
basically limits the applicability of MT to carbon
and low-alloy steels.
Rockwell Hardness Test:
For small parts, the Rockwell test methods are
defined in ASTM E18 and ISO 6508 standards. BVI uses
a portable machine for small parts. |
